The Relay For Life of Saginaw Township was a HUGE success, thanks in part
to our dedicated participants who are passionate about the fight against Cancer.  This year 19 Teams and over 350 participants took part to help the American Cancer Society advance its mission to save lives, through education, advocacy, research and patient services.  In the days leading up to Relay, teams helped raise much needed funds and awareness through donations, sponsorships, including those made online through our events website.  19 Teams registered on-line and raised a total of $6434.00.

At the Relay For Life on May 17, 2008 the community came together to celebrate  over 40 Survivors who have been touched by this disease and the Caregivers who have |supported them through there fight.   Many survivors helped celebrate their victory during the survivor's lap, followed by the caregivers celebration lap.  And the walking continued as team members took their turn completing the laps that make up Relay.

As the daylight faded over our track, campsites and participants, luminarias were lit in
honor of those fighting cancer and in memory of those who have been lost in the battle. 

At our Relay event, a total of 339 luminaria helped luminate our path as a symbol of HOPE that one day we will find a CURE, so that cancer will no longer be a major health issue for Saginaw Township.  Relay For Life of 2008 was an amazing experience, and it took many hours of preparation, time and commitment from many people to make this year such a success.  But remember, even though the Relay itself is over, we can still raise more to help in the fight – donations can be made through August 31st.

Thank-you once again, for all your hard work and dedication and for being a part of
the Relay For Life of Saginaw Township.  Thank you for celebrating our
Survivor with us, remembering those we have lost and that are still battling and for Fighting  Back.  With your support the American Cancer Society can continue to work towards a future where cancer no longer threatens the lives of the people we LOVE
