ANOTHER GOAL MET!
Thank you to all the Relay For Life of North Whidbey participants, bands, sponsors, food vendors, and local businesses that made our 2008 event such an phenomenal success! Our Relay has collected $185,044.38 as of July 10, surpassing our $185,000 goal. It took all of us working together to attain this level of fundraising. Reaching this goal is even more exceptional in view of the current economic turmoil that includes the rising price of gas and a depressed real estate market.
The accounting books at the American Cancer Society official close August 31 and we have the opportunity until then to continue with fundraising and collection of those pledges for all the laps you walked. Please consider using the online tool to continue to send emails to family and friends letting them know how well our Relay did. You may contact me at 679-1583 or lindakaser@comcast.net to arrange for collection of any additional funds that you have.
On another successful note. our Cancer Prevention Study-3 goal was exceeded by five people. Thank you again for all the hours and hard work everyone dedicated to the cause!
Linda Kaser, on behalf of the entire 2008 Planning Committee

Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®. It’s a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.
Won’t you join us this year and be a part of Relay?
It’s not just an opportunity to celebrate, remember, and fight back - your involvement will help the American Cancer Society work toward a mission of eliminating cancer as major health issue and will support much-needed services in your community. Thanks in part to the donations from Relay For Life and other events, the Society is saving lives, helping those touched by cancer, and empowering people to fight this disease all over the world.

Our 2008 "There's No Place Like Hope" Kickoff was a phenomenal success. We packed the ballroom of the Elks lodge as we listened to a recap of our successes in 2007 and were introduced to new programs coming our way in 2008. We've been chosen as a site for Cancer Prevention Studies-3 and will be busy recruiting volunteers to help with this one-time event. Please read the selection on this site's sidebar if you are interested in what this program can mean in the continuing research to find cures and to reduce the incidence of cancer.
FIGHT BACK through research! THIS YEAR ONLY, our Relay event will offer the unique opportunity to participate first-hand in a landmark new study, the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3).The American Cancer Society will be enrolling people into CPS-3, a long-term study that will help researchers better identify the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer. Please spread the word and visit the Cancer Prevention Study-3 website for more information about how to participate in research today for a cancer free tomorrow!
Thanks for being a part of Relay For Life!
