Relay For Life® of Marion, OH

So far, we have Teams: 37

Kudos from our staff partner, Amber, to all the great Marion Relay participants.

Hello Marion Relay Gang!

What a wonderful event. You should all be very proud of your efforts! The teams and community enjoyed themselves. The weather ended up behaving...that goodness. Last year there were many comments from teams, wishing that they had just a half hour longer to have been out of the storm, therefore when several reports indicated we were in the path, the call was made.

Thank you for your patience as the final pieces were put together for totals for the fight back ceremony. It was not exactly what we had planned but we were able to have closing and make the call of thanks before disbursing.

I am working on a document that will show off how hard each team has worked. We had an excellent team structure this year. There were many more night walkers and the track was full of engaged team members. That says so much! Marion also had a great deal of Rookie teams. Some brands new, within weeks and some several months old but you all did an outstanding job...you jumped in head first and we are all proud of you. We hope you enjoyed your first event as much as we enjoyed having you join the fight against cancer with us. To the seasoned teams...thank you for mentoring the new teams and showing them how and why you Relay. It paid off!

Congrats to the PartyLite Team for having the winning Whirlpool ticket pulled. The winner is Patty Cumston. She and I are playing phone tag currently. Once we chat, I will have her get in touch with Tom, the leadership team, Wayne Haines from Whirlpool and Charlene Dutton from PartyLite for a photo and story op.

A large number of tickets for the Whirlpool Cabrio Set were sold this year!

It was an easy fundraiser that secured thousands of dollars for the event.

Thanks to Wayne Haines for getting Whirlpool to donate those!

Also, thank you to all of the teams who helped with the entertainment activities and sponsorships. We had a very well rounded event and I will say it was one of my favorites. Your campsites were fantastic! From the Las Vegas strip to simple signs of your on-site fundraisers...all were admired.

Hats off to each of the teams and team captains. It is a much easier load when you delegate and I did see a great deal more of that this year. Thank you! We know how much time you put in to your teams and fundraisers, in addition to your family lives. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Bravo to the planning committee...you had some twists and turns but all in all...YOU MADE IT ROCK! Your efforts were enjoyed by many and you deserve a great deal of thanks for all of your time and effort. I personally want to say thank you for being so thoughtful in helping me with lifting and tasks that may have been troublesome for me. Because of you, I was functional and able to enjoy your event. Sincere thanks!

Funds...last year the event was under $100,000 at the hurried event closing but soared to over $106,000. As I mentioned at closing, we have a great deal of funds still coming in and teams still fundraising. Hoops For Hope is coming up in July, Robb Koons has two dine to donate dates at Applebees, Kick It Up For A Cure Poker Run is in July and more. We will keep you posted at the figure rises! :}
